I saw Bill Bennett on a talking heads show tonight. At one time I thought he had the smarts and moral grounding to make a good presidential candidate. But now I see why he is not one. He's just too darned fat.

I've read the Constitution, many times. And I qualify to run for President! But who in their right mind would vote for me; I'm just too darned fat.

JFK? Nice looking guy, and it it may have won him the Presidency. RFK? What a promising, skinny candidate he was! Teddy? Too darned fat!

Mike Huckabee could not have run for President in 2004. Over 100 pounds lighter, he is making a huge charge this year. Romney could regain the lead in Iowa if he would stay away from fried food for two or three days.

My aunt once met Bill Clinton, as his guest, in the Oval office. Thank goodness my uncle was there; from her description of the man she could have caused yet another sex scandal.

Gerald Ford? Shoulda won in '76 but Carter had more hair. Reagan fixed that with his movie star appeal in 1980.

So how much do you believe "good looks" factors into the making of an American President?

And who are the "hot" candidates to beat right now?

No one is slicker in the old fashioned sense than Romney. (I see he is even getting his hair cut to look a bit more casual. It looks like they are using thinning shears.) And Edwards wins hands down for the Dems.

Unfortunately, I think almost all the wrong things are part of who we vote for, with looks being at the top.

Personally I see the Republican race being wide open. He stands as good a chance as anybody.
