Let me tell you my experience of trying to get help for depression. I put up a good front for a long time hiding panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. I finally went to my family MD and she prescribed a well known antidepressant. She also suggested a psychologist. Went to local mental health clinic. The clinic was quick to inform me of the cost. It came out to almost $1100.00 a month not counting the drugs they wanted to prescribe. My insurance would not pay for treatment so I couldn't afford it. I feel like it was all about the money. Then I lost my job. Now I could not afford the antidepressant my doctor had prescibed. (It was working.) I feel even worse because I know how really decent I could be feeling if I could afford to continue taking it. Now I'm out of options. (Try to get a job when you don't even believe in yourself). I will go on, I'm not looking for pity, but what about the other people who need treatment even more than me? It has become a crime in this country to be poor or underinsured. There are very few options for the mentally ill and depressed people out there. You might be surprised how many people you may know that suffer from some form of depression. I avoid having any friends so that no one catches on. Many of the homeless you see are people with untreated serious mental illnesses who have been turned away because of their lack of options. I know life is not fair but this has just been eating at me. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I actually feel a little better letting people know how the system really works.

That is a sad story. Thanks for sharing it with us. The state of health care in the USA is one of the reasons my fiancé is moving to live with me here in Ireland, rather than the other way around. I had to take anti-depressants for a while some years ago, and there is a scheme here in Ireland that when your medicine costs are higher than 40 euro (about 50 dollars) a month for a chronic illness, which mental illnesses are considered, the state pays any excess. Being unemployed at the time, there is no way I could have affored the medicine otherwise.

I know, and I am sorry that you are being stressed out even more with all of this red tape.

As you pointed out, many have feel through the cracks of soiety and ended up on the streets in america because of mental health issues and lack of proper treatment in America.

I am glad that you wrote. I like truth, especially when it exposes injustice and other evils.

I am confident that you will land in a better place mentally, emotionally, financially, and the like. You sound like a survivor to me. After all, you figured out what is wrong, and now you have to figure out only what you are going to do to overcome your challenge.

I believe that there is a reason for everything. Once you learn what is positive in your experience, it will be a lever propelling you to your new height. Your situation is temporary. Happy Victory!

I know how that feels like. I think depression is caused by a gland in the brain. It dumps out a drug into your brain, it's meant for the bad times in your life but with somepeople it happens when it shouldn't.

The best way to deal with it is through hypnosis rather than drugs. It's the way it was done for me so I know it works. It's about convincing your brain to stop leaking the drug.

This is done through meditation and positive thoughts. That's the long way. Quick way is by useing hypnosis.

Go here to learn about brainwaves. http://www.web-us.com/brainwavesfunction.htm REMEMBER cycles per second is the same as Hertz because next you're going here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_beat

Now you use some audio software, can download some for free, to make your own cd's with your own positive commands in to cure depression.

Just remember your brain has to decend from beta to alpha to theta to delta while you listen to the commands.

Check out http://www.bwgen.com/ for some more help.

Take care cause I have heard that binaural beats can cause epileptic fits. Good luck.
