I believe the meaning of life is other people. Connecting to others is what gives you something to look forward to, something to care about. You will comfort them and they you. You will bring each other joy. And you will irritate each other and then hopefully get over it. Life without emotion is not living but existing. I would encourage you to get back on your meds. Perhaps they can be adjusted if the side effects are a pain. It takes 3 weeks to get used to a change such as a new teacher or a new car. Getting used to a new personality, owning it, takes a lot longer and is two steps forward one back. Your bad*** attitude is not neccesarily a success or a failure. It is only a step. Your therapist can help you as I hope this does but the responsibility and the reward are ultimately yours. I know it is difficult to motivate yourself but it truely does not get any easier tommorrow. I don't believe you are any different, and certainly not any less, than anyone else. Think of yourself as worthwhile because you are.

I agree with Glen..I will also agree that you should get back on your meds. I have an attention disorder and recently I quit taking all my meds and I was depressed and ready to quit my job and all. I went to my doctor and she put me on something new and It is working fine. I feel so much better now. I am sure that has effected you this way. It may take awhile for your meds to start working again. Maybe monday you could call your therapist and tell her what is going on and she will I am sure be able to help you out. I hope you get feeling better real soon. Sam

Hi there. Listen, usually medication takes at least one month to really start working and as far as I remember you have not been taking it for more than a month, so please be patient ok? smile
About your therapy, I think it would be a lot better if you could see your therapyst at least one a week. Also, you can call him to let him know how you are feeling and he can give you an "emergency" appointment.
About life´s meaning or purpose I can recommend an excelent book (though I don´t really know if you are a reading lover.. I hope so...)
It´s called "man´s seach for meaning" by Viktor Frankl. It´s a book written by a very famous psychiatrist who had the same question you had while he was trying to survive the death camps from the germans.
Also, if you want to talk about something specific please, don´t hesitate to write to me please! Maybe I can help you somehow...
Big hug and I hope you feel better...
Lucia

Some medications you are not supposed to abruptly stop taking. I don't know what medication you are referring to. A lot of people are on these new antidepressants these days. You cannot stop these immediately without feeling depression and anxiety. It can be pretty bad. I would suggest taking your medication and to contact your doctor to get in sooner than your next appointment. They will squeeze you in since there is a problem.

Peach, you can't mess with taking/not taking meds. Your Dr. put you on them for a reason. These medications function with the chemicals in your brain. If you start and stop taking them your messing with those chemicals and it will make you feel terrible. You should call your Dr., tell him/her what you did and ask what you should do. He/She will probably see you sooner if you ask. Please take your meds as directed. They worked for you when you were taking them, now that your not on them, your depressed again. Your answering your own question.
I'm here for ya sweetie. PB
