Ok, I'm going to try to make this as simple as possible. HAHA... I was put on generic Zoloft a few months ago, and after awhile it wasn't helping me much anymore. So I went back to the doctor and he switched my med to Celexa, which after taking for a couple weeks, didn't do a darn thing.
I went back AGAIN, and he suggested giving Zoloft one more try before switching to yet another med. So I went back on it, but began having severe heart palpations just a few days after starting it again.
I happened to run across a partial bottle of generic Zoloft pills yesterday while cleaning. I looked in the bottle, and those pills were considerably smaller than the ones I am currently taking. For a minute I was worried I was taking the wrong med or something, and I called my doctor. He informed me that many generic drugs are produced by different companies, so that accounts for the heart palpations due to one and not the other.
Has anyone experienced similar side effects to Zoloft or any other anxiety/depression med? I found it really odd that one caused bad heart palpations and the other one didn't. It also caused what felt like throat spasms, chest pressure, and sharp headaches for a few minutes (after kicking in). Just wondering if anyone out there has had the same experience...

I have been bouncing around on antidepressents for about a year now...I am currently taking Lexapro which is basically jus like Celexa jus without all the side effects, and it really works for me..
When i was on Celexa i had the heart things..but i also have anxiety so that didnt help any....
I was on Paxil for a while then i said well i feel better so i am jus gonna stop takin it all together..yea that was a bad idea..
But i completley know what u are feeling...I finally found something that works for me..right now anyways...
Catty's been on sertaline (generic Zoloft) for a while now, and other antidepressants since 1994. I've gone through at least a dozen in all. For a while they work, then they fail. There are many unpleasant side effects: Wellbutrin gives you hand tremors; others make you nauseous, etc. It's different for everyone. Sertaline works ok for me now, with few, if any side effects.
I've had doctors tell me that some drugs don't kick in for six weeks, so be patient.
