As some of you know I have had major problems with an eating disorder. I have been offered a job at a health club. Question is do you think this would possibly help me to follow a healthy wat of exercising and eating or would it just make me even more neurotic than usual? I have until Monday to let them know my answer and I did not tell them anything about my problem. Thanks for your input!
In taking any job there are many things to consider. No doubt you have had a chance to observe the environment you would be working in.
Perhaps it would be best to look at it like this. Look at the big picture. Take a sheet of paper, list the pros and the cons. Evaluate everything carefully.
If after evaluating everything, if you think this job environment would pose a problem where your eating disorder is concerned, then the answer is obvious.
I guess all of us don't know about your eating disorder. In any case, I don't think taking a job is necessarily a bad idea at all. It will keep you busy and productive. You also get a paycheck too! I think that it will help you feel more positive about yourself. If the job has regular hours, it may just help in getting a routine down for times you exercise and meal planning.
The job has to be right for you though. If you find it too stressful only contributing to existing problems, you don't have to continue working there. You can keep looking until you find something you want to do.
Just a thought, but maybe you might want to try agency type of work temporarily. It gives you the opportunity to go to different places and find out what it may be like working for them and you don't have to commit to anything.
