I believe that many doctors treat OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) with drugs that increase the seritonin (sp?) level in the brain. There are many drugs on the market that do this. Prozac, and Zyloft are 2 that I know about. I encourage anyone wwho thinks they have this problem to see a doctor and get treatment. Here is a website that might be helpful.

I have OCD, and they are looking at medications for me right now.

I personally had a very, very severe reaction to Prozac that left me writhing on the floor--literally, it looked like grand mal seizures. And it had no effect on the OCD. However, my grandmother (who has depression) also has a bad reaction to Prozac, so that might be more genetic than related to the OCD.

Everything I've read says that Zoloft is the best. You can check out their site at http://www.zoloft.com/index.asp?pageid=14 This is most likely what I will be taking soon, because I also have a generalized anxiety disorder and this should treat both.

If you ever need to talk about your OCD, please feel free to email me at **** (Please do not post email addresses in open forums. Registered members can view your email address in your profile, if you wish to provide it.)

Thanks Mommyx2, I was put on Prozac and it is making me worse, I went off of it on Friday and have an appt. with the dr. on the 10th. My e-mail is in my profile if you want to get in touch, I saw a post of yours a couple of weeks back about OCD and looked for your e-mail in your pro-file and it wasn't there, thanks again!
