One of the problems in depression is that the neurotransmitters (NT) are not able to stimulate the neurone at the post sinaptic end, so the nest neurone is not properly stimulated. This could be caused by two resons. There isn´t enought production of Nt´s or the NT´s are beeing deactivated by enzymes such as MAO, before they can do their job. There are two solutions - One: Medication inhibit MAO se they don´t deactivate the NT´s so they can stimulate the next neurone. - Two: Close the channels that recapturate NT´s so they can stimulate the next neurone more times. Here is a great page that could explain better. If you have any questions e mail me. Depression and chemistry
