Do you think that there are some people that because of thier mental health will never be able to get a job? Or do you think there is always some job that they can do no matter how menial?

Since mental illness can often be just as disabling as physical illness, I do believe there are some people who can not work. Although, I think most people with mental illness, can receive treatment and medication that will allow them to hold down a job. I don't think its a matter of menial work, but a matter of finding what suits that person, depending on the type of mental illness.

I do some volunteer work with people who are mentally challenged. Some of them have jobs, but there are some that have behavorial problems that will limit their abilities to work, some forever. And no matter how menial the work, certain skills such as showing up each day on time, being able to get along with others, not having anxiety attacks on the job, those who are severely mentally deficient ---these things and more will keep a person unemployable not matter what drugs or therapy they can acquire.

Some persons are so mentally ill that they must be institutionalized. Yet, I suspect that many of them are taught how to do things which noninstitutionalized persons take for granted, for example, eating from a plate with utensils and keeping a tidy bed.
