Today on Answerpool Music Exploration, we have a band who stands out mostly by who comprises the group: Daryl Palumbo from the dynamic pop-post-hardcore band Glassjaw, and acclaimed underground DJ/producer Dan the Automator, known for his work on the first Gorillaz album and being the other half of Handsome Boy Modeling School. On their collaborative debut album, aptly titled Decadence as it falls well in line with the album's flashy/disco impression, they make some interesting stuff, however, what they create together never really feels as interesting as you'd expect from the combination of these two musicians. Daryl's vocals have always sounded really unique, and with this album, it's certainly interesting to hear them put in front of a new backdrop. Fortunetly, that backdrop isn't just any backdrop, it's an Automator backdrop. What Dan brings to the project is a radio-friendly, effective background which seems to be made as electronic production that rock fans won't complain about. But enough of the critique. The album is still a highly enjoyable collaboration, which is always good enough for me to listen to. You enjoy, too.
Jusork, I just listened to all three, and Beating Heart Baby is the winner. I love the sound and the lyrics. The other two are about equal. They both are good but they don't quite touch the first one.
