Ok, here's the second one. Everyone give it a try.
I was recommended some songs by this band from a friend on another site. The one that stood out the most for me was
this one: Day. I liked it so much, I downloaded it and still listen to it regularly. So I'd like to hear thoughts on Day in particular.
Jaga Jazzist is an instrumental group of 10 people from Norway. Here's the band breakdown:
-Mathias Eick – Trumpet, upright bass, keyboards + vibraphone
-Harald Frøland – Guitars + effects
-Even Ormestad – Bass + keyboards
-Andreas Mjøs – Vibraphone, guitars, drums + electronics
-Line Horntveth – Tuba + percussion
-Martin Horntveth – Drums + drum-machines
-Lars Horntveth – Tenor sax, bass-clarinet, guitars + keyboards
-Andreas Schei – Keyboards
-Ketil Einarsen – Flutes, Wind Controler, percussion + keyboards
-Lars Wabø - Trombone + percussion
Which looks like this:
They get a lot of popularity around Norway, and their popularity outside the region is growing faster (the person who recommended them to me lives in South Carolina.) If Day is too beat-driven for you, you might still try some of their other stuff. They have a handful more available on
their website. A lot of the ones I've heard seem to still have some obvious beats around somewhere. Probably won't be as heavy for you as Day though. I just like crazy melodic beat stuff like that I guess (reminds me of Aphex Twin.)
