do you have a song that just fits your life so much, or is composed so powerfully, you cant listen to it without crying from the good feeling?
this is mine. it fits into both categories.
innocent by our lady peace
Oh, Johnny wishes he was famous Spends his time alone in the basement With Lennon and Cobain and a guitar and a stereo And while he wishes he could escape this But it all seems so contagious Not to be yourself and faceless In a song that has no soul
I remember feeling low And I remember losing hope And I remember all the feelings And the day they stopped We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are all We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are all
Oh, and Gina's losing faith in what she knows Hates her music, hates all of her clothes Thinks of surgery and a new nose Every calorie's a war, And while she wishes she was a dancer And that she never heard of cancer She wishes God would give her some answers And make her feel beautiful
I remember feeling low And I remember losing hope And I remember all the feelings And the day they stopped We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are
One day you'll have to let it go You'll have to let it go One day you'll stand up on your own You'll stand up on your own Remember losing hope Remember feeling low Remember all the feelings and the day they stopped
We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent, we are, we are
There is a crescendo in Jackson Browne's "The Load-Out" that just fills my heart with helium...."We just pass the time in the hotel rooms, wander 'round backstage, 'Til those lights come up and we hear that crowd and we remember why we came.....", those are the lyrics for that part of the song...it does not matter how down I am, that 20 seconds of music can bring me around...of course, sometimes I have to play it several times, but it ALWAYS works!

MrsS, I know what you mean about "The Load Out". It's a "that's why we do it". There's loads of others that do it for me too. "Dan Takes 5" by the Georgia Satellites, "Only A Dream" by Mary Chapin Carpenter, "Fort Worth Blues" by Steve Earle, "Lenny" by Stevie Ray Vaughan, "Shooting Star" by Bad Company, too many Tom Waits songs to list, "Venice Queen" by The Chilli Peppers", "Tangerine" by Led Zep, "Out Of The Woods" by Nickel Creek..... OK I'll stop.
Have you ever heard "sweet dreams little man" by Dixie Chicks? That song makes me cry every time I hear it, because it reminds me of my son. Also, the 1812 Overture and Canon in D, if done well are so moving they bring tears to my eyes

It doesn't really fit my life, but something about the beautiful, haunting melody of Danny Boy always gets to me.
"Danny Boy"
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow 'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

Hmn, a song that I can easily relate to happens to be a pretty so so number of Madonna. Don't rem the name but the lyrics certainly ring true for me.
It goes something like:
I want the good life, but I don't want an easy ride. What I want is to work for it. Feel the blood and sweat on my fingertips, that's what I want.
I go round and round just like a circle; I can't see a clearer picture. When I touch the ground I come full circle to my place and I am home. I, am, home.
I wan to know everything, maybe someday I will. What I want is to live forever. Not to find my time and place, it's a lonely race...
it's all offhand.
Ofcourse the living for ever bit is NOT my desire. But the rest of the song more or less reflects what satisfies me at the end of the day.
The best sleep you earn is when you are darn tired and drop dead on the bed.
