Robert Lynn Asprin (June 28, 1946 – May 22, 2008) was an American science fiction and fantasy author best known for his humorous MythAdventures series.

Was just reading about him, Sher. Apparently, in his last years, he had severe financial problems. He didn't have much incentive to write, if, as I read, the only way he could avoid handing his profits over to the IRS, was to co- author books, rather than be credited as the sole author.
