I generally read fiction, and have just finished Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" . This isn't exactly an uplifting, light summer read, but it is beautifully written nonetheless.
What is everyone else reading this summer, and do you have any recommendations?
I can recommend The New Humanists: Science at the Edge, a collection of essays and articles by prominent scientists and researchers on the subject of science in relation to culture as a whole. It's quite positive, and goes counter to the doom-and-gloom forecast by most social/political observers. I haven't finished it yet.
I find it interesting because how we see ourselves is so much a matter of how we see the world we live in. If we think it is ultimately intelligible, we feel good. If we see it as demon-haunted, to use Sagan's term, we feel scared and alienated. At least, that's my take.
The collection was edited by John Brockman. It's not a very recent book, it was published in 2003.

I'm reading all the Jonothan Kellerman and Faye Kellerman books. I should be finished in another two-three weeks. Then I need to find another author with a ton of books and start there.
Well I FINALLY finished the last of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King...OMG I feel like it's taken up 20 years of my life. Oh wait! It has!
I can finally get on with other good stuff! I have several Harry Potter books to catch up on (although I wouldn't recommend seeing the movie before the book)
I also have many James Patterson, Tami Hoag, and Stuart Woods books to catch up on.
Not to mention, we just recently picked up a Spanish Language course (whew!) so I think I'll be concentraing on that for awhile! I'd really like to be able to converse better the next time I go to Mexico!
