I have never read any of his books, but after reading something of a bio of him on the Comcast newspage, I'm interested now.
The article made Angela's Ashes sound depressing, but it also talked of his humor, so maybe it balances out...?

It's the humour that makes Angela's Ashes. Unfortunately the success of the book caused publishers to go through their slush pile to find all those depressing books about tough childhood, all without humour, which they'd rejected, and print them, plus it encouraged any number of imitators to rush into print.

That's a problem both in publishing and the film industry Roll Eyes

Equally unfortunately, I missed the boat.Memoirs of being the runt in the litter didn't catch either the Marley and Me market nor the Angela's Ashes one Frown
