I'm wondering what the type of poem that's written vertically (as seen below) is called. I'm pretty sure there's a term for it:

D evoted companion
O ne and only true friend
G reat to play with

(I totally just made that up... yeah it's pretty bad, eh?) HAHA

I need to know what these are called as I'm searching for one written about "mother".
Thanks!

M is for the million things she gave me
O is only that she's growing old
T is for the tears she shed to save me
H is for a heart as pure as gold
E is for her eyes with love light shining
R is right and right she'll always be
Put them all together they spell mother
A word that means the world to me.

Old corny song of yesteryear. I have no idea if it has a name for the style of rhyme. Confused

Nice poem, Frank Smile

Hi Sarah, this style of poem is an acrostic poem.

If you google acrostic+mother, you'll find many examples. Most of them are written by school children.

I kind of liked these ones, they are so sincere...Room 38 Blog

A notable example is by Lewis Carroll, written for the real 'Alice' of the Alice books, Alice Pleasance Liddell. It is delightfully apt, recalling the day when he first told the basis of the story of 'Wonderland' to her and her companions on a boat in Oxford:
