Buttermilk Biscuits

3 cups all purpose flour
1 ½ Tbsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
2 Tbsp sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 whole beaten egg
¾ cup buttermilk

Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in butter with a wire pastry cutter. Add egg and buttermilk. Mix well. Knead about 2 minutes. Roll out into about 3/4 inch thickness. Cut into rounds. Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes.

I have never had scones, so I wouldn't know. For a variation though you can leave out the egg.
