A slice of this is delicious with a scoop of ice cream topped with hot fudge...

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs, beaten
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat shortening & sugar, add eggs then dry ingredients. Add milk and vanilla.

Bake in loaf pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until golden.

For a variation yu might add 2 or 3 tbs. powdered chocolate.
