Sammy, you can melt a big bar of chocolate in a microwave (put it in a microwavable bowl first), and either dip the crackers or pretzels in the chocolate or pour the chocolate onto each piece. Either way, you'll have to do it once, then let the chocolate cool enough so the you can touch it and either dip it again to get the part that didn't get dipped before (the part where you held it) or turn it over to coat the other side if you are pouring.

Put the chips in a bowl, and melt them in the microwave. After you dip each piece, put it on waxed paper.

You could also try this recipe. Be sure and let the chocolate seep in to the inside of the cookie, and be sure to completely cover all the outside of the cookie. Don't tell them what it is; let them guess.

I take a saucepan and fill it a 1/4 of the way up w/ water. I put it on the stove to simmer. Grab a glass or metal bowl that will fit inside the sauce pan. You don't want the bowl to the touch the bottom of the pan. After the water starts to bubble, turn the burner down to low. Put your chips in the bowl. Let them hang up for a bit. When you see them start to melt, grab a heat safe spatula and stir until completely melted. DO NOT GET WATER IN THE BOWL! This is very important. Water will cause the chocolate to seize up on you.

The chocolate can sit there for for long periods of time and it will stay all melted and smooth. Then you can dipyour cookie, pretzel or whatever and put it on wax paper. My advice is to let the cookie set overnight. Because even after the chocolate feels dry, it's still a bit tacky for awhile.

One cool thing you can do w/ chocolate. I love this. It really WOWS people. Smile You can go to the craft store and get soap molds. I have various sea shell ones. You fill each mold w/ the melted chocolate using a spoon. After the entire mold is filled, gently tap it on the counter to even it out and get rid of any air bubbles. Carefully place in the freezer on a flat area. They take about 15-20 minuets usually to set up enough to take out of the mold. I did all my baking last week and made over a 100 of those candies. I only had 3 molds (1 had enough for 12 shell shapes and the other two had 5) So after they set up enough to take out, I put a plate in the freezer and put them on it.
I made a few different ones. Chocolate mint, peppermint, white, and chocolate toffee. You can add peppermint extract to the chocolate (I've done that and I've also used the Andes' mints chips) Or w/ the white chips, after you pour it into the mold, put a drop of red or green food coloring in each one and swirl it. It will look really cool and elegant. Everytime I make this, people think they took a really long time. I don't tell them how easy and almost effortless it really is Wink
These candies melt. So if you make a couple different kinds and leave them out sitting on each other (mine eventually went in plastic bags) they will pick up the other flavors. Mostly if you do mint. Store them in the freezer or refridgerator until ready to serve. Smile

w/ peppermint extract, a little bit goes a long way, 2 wouldn't do more than 1 tsp. for every 2 cups. I had it while it's on the stove. Or add it too your liking. Or cheat like I have and buy the peppermint chips. Smile Those are usually only holiday items so if your store has a holiday baking display, you'll find the, there. They have Andes' Mints bits and Andes' peppermint mints.
