Powder coated means that the product was sprayed with a powder type of paint instead of a liquid paint. Powder coating paint has an environmental advantage over the traditional liquid paint in that no solvents are used in the process of applying the paint to a product. Overspray from liquid paints cannot be recollected and then reused, whereas, powder paint can.
Dry powder paint is electrostatically charged then applied onto product that is electrically grounded. The powder particles remain in place until baked. The particles melt and combine to form a film, which produces a superior finish, unlike liquid paint, which tends to produce runs and drips.
