I put a post on here earlier about going out of town with my rabbit. Where did it go? Oh, well. I'll do it again... There's a good chance I'll be going out of town sometime this month, and my rabbit has to go with me. It'll be a 6 hour drive, and I want to know if it would be better to have him in his carrier or his cage. That's a long time to be in a carrier...but I know that's what carriers are for. I just want him to be comfortable, but safe, too.

Felicity - the same rule of thumb holds true when travelling with any animal - so I will post the same answer that I put in your "rodent" question...
I would go with a little travel box for safety reasons. While they would have more room to move around and feel a bit less constricted if you were to leave them in the cage, it could be more harmful if you were to get into an accident or even have to stop short. If there is any sudden movement, they are small enough to get thrown against the metal bars of the side of a cage and get pretty badly hurt. It's always best to travel in a smaller space with less room for movement...
