You should be able to find hermit crabs at most pet shops (especially the small ones that have cats and hampsters and such). We got all ours at a little local pet shop. I'm not sure what good stores there are in Iowa, but you should be able to find some good ones that'll have hermit crabs in the phone book. Try that and see if you can find any that do.
