i have no personal experience witht this,
but i am not sure that a skunk would make a good pet.
even if you could train them to be good house animals, they would still spray when they got scared, and that would definitely stink up your house.

Hi, EBknowsBUBBA. I’ve never had a skunk, but have done some research on them.

Skunks need a varied diet, consisting mainly of a wide variety of vegetables.

About the smell, a domesticated or “pen-raised” skunk normally has its scent glands removed when it’s about four weeks old.

It appears that, as with some other “exotic” pets, there’s no accepted rabies vaccine for them (at least in the U.S.) — in other words, if the animal should ever bite someone, the owner may very well be required to have the animal tested for rabies. (The animal must be killed).

Pet skunks are illegal in some states, and even in states where they are legal, you may be required to have an exotic animal permit. Be sure to check your state and local laws.

Like any pet, they are NOT right for everyone! Please take a look at the links below for more info:

I had a friend that had a pet skunk. It was the cutest thing. (It was de-skunked of course). My friend would put a leash on the skunk and take it for walks. People would freak out when they saw it. LOL! My friend had to get rid of the skunk since her apartment didn't allow pets. (she only had it about 2 weeks) It was just so adorable!

I had a pet skunk growing up. I trained him in just a few weeks to use a litter box. Very affectionate animals.

When I was small my aunt had a skunk, it was desmelled, it was sweet and lovable and it ate veggies, they do have to be raised from birth though, don't walk into your back yard and try to make friends!! Wink
