I am going to a special event soon. My nails are awful from housework. I bought some petite active length nails. What is the best kind of finger nail glue I can buy? What ever you recommend, I hope can be removed by soaking in polish remover.

I think all glue is the same. Look in the nail polish section of the store. I have found it to be all the same. Be sure not to get any on your skin because it will stick to everything. Lightly file the top of your nail and place the glue on your nail first and then press the nail on top of it. If your looking for a specific name try Sally Henson. As for removal, soak in any nail polish remover that contains acetone.

I bought a fingernail kit to brush on acrylic powder. It worked, but the powder stuck to the brush and although it said soak it in fingernail polish remover, it never did come off though I soaked it for hours. Now I just put the glue on and grow my own fingernails long.

You probably used a non-acetone remover. It is specifically designed to just remove the polish and to NOT take the plastic nail or the acrylic off. If the acrylic powder dried on the brush (You have a hard white clump on it) then it will never come off. You have to cut it out. Acetone polish remover kind of melts the plastic nail away. It does remove the glue too. If you're growing your own nails I would not put glue on them anymore. Go for a nail polish hardener instead. I'm growing mine too. smile

Clare: I tried the "nail hardener" stuff several times - had no effect on the strength of my nails at all. I have thin, brittle nails that only have to bend a little to split right below the cuticle line! The nail glue stops that and works fine for me. wink wink wink

Hi Angela-cc,

The best glue for nails, I found, is "nailene". When the nail bed is properly prepared, this glue hangs on until the artificial nail grows out. It dries quickly, leaves no air gaps between the nail bed and the artificial nail and can be soaked off with nail polish remover.

"Nailene" also makes the artificial nails. They are the best on the market, as well. Both the glue and the nails are available in Drug Stores and in many department stores, such as Walmart.

If you look at the ingredients in the glues you will see it is the same - and just like Krazy Glue! So I just go to the dollar store and get the double pack of regular instant glue.

Of course...none of this is really good for your nails. And when you are ready to remove the glue just soak your nails in pure Acetone to dissolve the glue.

If you get the nail glue on your hands, you can just file it off with an emery board.

My bottle of Krazy Glue says do not use on nails.

I know it says not to use on nails. There is a reason for this. None of that glue should be used on our nails! LOL But you can't very well put that on the bottle if you intend to sell it for nail use, so you package the same thing and advertise that it IS for nail use. Trust me tho, it's all the same product. Just look at the ingredients!

Acetone can absorb into your skin...yes, this is the only thing that will dissolve nail glue or the acrylic used in artificial nails.

My ex was a TV Tech, and pure acetone is used (or at least was at that time) in cleaning VCR's...since he was in it so often, he finally started using a rubber glove, since acetone can be highly toxic.

I had acrylic nails for years and years...in my current job it's not a good idea to have nails so I took them off. I hadn't had a fill in a month anyway, so they came off easily.

If I HAD had a fill recently, I would have gone back to the salon for professional removal - to help avoid damage to my own nails.

If it is really a special occasion, you may want to go have your nails done with the synthetic nails. I haven't tried it myself, but I have heard that they hold well and look pretty good from what I have seen.
