We have recently moved to a different area and now, the water here seems to make it flat. I used to be able to wash it (daily) and keep that clean , bouncy feeling. Now It is okay..(right after washing) then it just goes to lying flat. I use mousse and would be greatful if someone has an answer (besides telling me to go to my old neighbors' house and wash my hair there!..lol.)Thanks! ++++++++++++++++++ 07-06-02, 09:04 PM angela-cc We use to have trouble with hard water where we live. It might be a good idea to install a water filter to the faucet where you shampoo your hair. "Pur" water filters fasten right to your water faucet. If this is not possible, you might want to try a good clarifying shampoo. You can ask for that at any given professional salon.
07-07-02, 04:20 PM Marguerite141 Thanks Angela...I will check out a PUR water nozzle and also some of the clarifying shampoo that you had suggested.
07-07-02, 06:48 PM cattywampus PUR water filters work great and don't cost much until you go to replace the filter. If I remember right, the filter is about 3/4 of the cost of the thing, and it runs out pretty fast. I grew up using rainwater (the hardest water known, hard as iron filings) and the only thing I found that would help was White Rain Conditioner. They still make it, PTL. wink wink wink
07-16-02, 11:09 PM Wildflower63 I'm thinking that you might have to go with a different style. Just go with the limp look. I fought that battle and lost. I have trouble with limp scraggly hair. The nice neat hairstyle just don't work for me unless I feel like spending my life in front of a mirror. If my hair is down, I just go with the messy look. I like using those large clips and pulling it back too. Try a really good (probably expensive too) hairdresser that will actually give you suggestions instead of "What do you want."
07-20-02, 01:34 AM nerdqueendeluxe We have hard water here as the water supply is glacier fed so I know what you are talking about. It's hard on the budget to experiment with hair care products. Are you using a conditioner? If so, head to Walmart and check out the Suave Professionals Humectant, similar to Nexxus, they say. It works well for me and doesn't have a harsh fragrance. Stay away from the Suave Healthy Shine with pro-vitamins, it doesn't do well in hard water. I have found that Clairol products tend to flatten my hair with hard water. Maybe try a Level 8 hair gel. Hope you find the right combination soon and please report back on the success.
