I have a pal who has broken her leg and has other troubles as well....in any case she can not really shower or even bend over a sink to wash her hair....any suggestions? She has tried Psssst and some other thing in a pastic cap but both leave her hair feeling like it is coated with residue and flakey...help is appreciated.

Use a sponge and baby shampoo?

I think if she takes the shampoo and dilutes it and the uses a sponge to work it through her hair and then uses a sponge to rinse... it could take quite awhile, but it would be effective and wouldn't require leaning or getting terribly wet - a towel around the neck and a bucket of water with a sponge.

Can she sit in the shower, kitty? If she somehow can't use the shower head, then at least she would have something to contain and drain the water and soap from ami's nice suggestion.

I know - after almost six years I have found the hair and nails forum

Wonderful, Fuse, I think you'll find some useful beauty tips here.Smile

Kitty, I have seen trays used, that the person can either, put their head against, while in a seated position, or have their hair washed while they are lying down. This way, your friend could use her usual shampoo and conditioner, and get her hair thoroughly clean.

There are some examples on this link, here. (about half way down the page)

As I said, I have seen these trays used, and they are effective, and not too expensive. Actually, I don't know if it's the same in the US, but here we have disability equipment rental stores, where you can rent such things short term, if you don't want to buy them.

dg that seems like a marvelous idea!

Hair washing trays

(one of a number of sites. That one links to several items for sale or bid. Simply google these words for others: hair washing tray)
