I am a 38 year old female and truly believe my hair is thinning. It just doesn't have the bulk it used to, I have a lot of little pieces that stick out and I can see more scalp around my part and by my temples. I have seen a dermatologist for this and she said it was probably a combination of having a baby (but 4 years ago?!) and a prior episode of hyperthyroidism. What can I do to help my hair or to even be sure it is thinning? People think you are crazy when you say this, especially if you don't have bald patches, but I know my hair and it is definitely thinning. I feel like I have gotten no answers and if a dermatologist cannot tell me anything, than who? She said I could try the men's rogaine (she claims the women's does nothing) but to be careful near my face. Okay, I don't want to take that chance of waking up and looking like I have a five o'clock shadow, either! Is there anything that has worked for anyone else?? I appreciate any suggestions! Thanks bunches!

Personally I supplement my hair with hair pieces! Smile
You won't wake up with a 5 o'clock shadow if you use Rogaine...and the female version does work for some people. Some doctors presribe an estrogen ointment as a hair loss treatment for women. Other treatments consist of immunomodulating therapies (glucocorticoids) or Minoxidil. Patients with minimal hair loss usually see an improvement. But if your hair problem is bad enough to cause you major concern you might want to look into checking out hair restoration for women.

Read some of the articles in this Hair Loss Patient Guide. There is a hair loss information center that explains what causes hair loss and medical as well as surgical treatments available.

In the meantime...stay away from that spray on hair Eek It fools no-one Wink
