.... actually, I'm "walking" in the commencement exercises, but I won't have all my requirements completed until the middle of the summer.
I have one last "thesis" project that I'm working on and won't "officially" be done until it's submitted.
Anyway, I've earned enough credits, so they're letting me "walk." And, best of all, I'm walking with Summa Cum Laude honors!!
I know graduating from college is a "check" in the box for some people, but I've been working at this goal for the last 20 years, so I'm incredibly excited!
Just wanted to share! ************************************************************* 05-06-03, 06:50 PM Lydia OG!!! Congratulations to you!!! You worked very hard and should be very proud. I'm glad you are going to take part in the commencement exercises, so many people don't when they graduate college. It's definitely an experience to participate in.
You should be proud of your accomplishments and I'm excited for you too!
Best of luck!
05-07-03, 12:26 AM jejelale CONGRATULATIONS OCEANGIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! 20 years?? That is great!! Best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!
05-07-03, 12:46 PM Oceangurl Thanks ladies! I can't wait! (Actually, I really can't wait to finish this thesis ... Roll Eyes )
05-07-03, 01:22 PM Georgia85 It's never too late is it OG? Soooo proud of ya! Now you just enjoy your Pomp and Circumstance... And don't worry about clothes under the gown...it'll be hot enough without them!
05-07-03 03:16 PM Oceangurl Ha Ha, GA! I laughed at the thought of being nude under my graduation gown. Have I mentioned that Vanguard is a private Christian University. They don't allow alcohol or tobacco on campus (mostly an issue for dorms). Can you imagine the hub-bub that would be caused by a nude graduate!! Eek Not to mention, I'm not exactly the "student body" that anyone would want to see nude Red Face
Actually, I went shopping last week and bought a new floral print skirt and bright yellow top. I'm going to a party in my honor after graduation, so I need something decent to wear. Wink
You're right though, it's going to be HOT that day and we're wearing black gowns and covers ... argh!
05-09-03, 08:10 AM Elexina Congratulations!!
...I remember my thoughts when I graduated, in the pouring rain (be glad for the sun, my dear, we all almost drowned): "what a long strange haul it's been." 05-10-03, 03:36 PM Kirby Lynn Congratulations! I'm just now graduating from high school, in a little less than a month. College graduation seems so far off for me...
05-12-03, 08:13 PM mahal Woohoo!!
Congrats and kudos! Smile
(Should I wait until the end of the summer to tell you that the only people in the world poorer than college students are college grads on the job market?)
05-12-03, 09:33 PM MommyTimesTwo Congrats! I'm STILL in college (6 years and running) and can't wait until I'm in your shoes, dressed or not Wink
05-12-03, 11:32 PM Oceangurl Thanks everyone! My graduation was great! The weather was beautiful and my fiance had a really nice party for me afterwards!
I'm actually not done with classes until July --the school let me "walk" so that I could participate with commencement. It was cool!
Mahal, I know too well how poor college students and starving college graduates are! Eek Fortunately, I am allowing myself plenty of time to job shop. I have been able to "consult" to some companies in my former industry to help keep food on the table, so I'll probably be able to continue doing so until something permanent comes up .... I hope! Big Grin
06-12-03, 04:31 PM samantha That is so great Oceangurl I am so proud of you!! You must feel so good about yourself! Great Job.. Smile
07-30-03, 10:53 AM clarebear Great job Oceangurl! Big Grin
Now you can enjoy the rest of summer.
No more thesis.. no more books.. Razz
