I hate my roommates they are impossible to live with! I live off campus but in student housing apartments. There is a no alcohol rule. My roommates love to break that rule. there's always alcohol around..i hate it...i don't like it being there, i don't like the smell of it..i hate it! so i turned them in for it..now they hate me! We just got done having a talk. They think it's alright for them to have people over 'til 3 or 4 in the morning..they think it's their right to drink alcohol and party and have fun and be young. And i think i'm being reasonable when i ask them to keep the noise level down after midnight and to drink elsewhere then in our apartment. I didn't even bring up the issue of them not doing the dishes ever or any cleaning for that matter.

I CAN"T STAND THEM!!! I'm to the point where the only place i'm happy is at school...or anywhere but here at the apartment..i can't stand being here..when i'm here i'm sad, depressed, angry and the only thing i can think about is when is my next class or how many days left until i go home..and it shouldn't be that way. I want out..but i can't get out of my lease agreement. It sucks!

Are there any suggestions out there on how to live with these two roommates who see eye to eye only i dont' and i just want quiet and some respect?!?!?!

Does your lease end with each semester? Does your landlord have another apartment you can transfer your lease to? Can you and your roommates make an agreement about the partying on weekends and holidays but not during school nights? Do you live close enough to home for weekend commutes home?

My lease was set up for both fall and spring semester...but i did contact northern management to see if there is a way i can get out of the lease. And to transfer to the only other female apartment would cost be a total of $50 plus filling out even more paper work. And the whole trying to make an agreement with the roommates did not go well...grr...and i wish i lived closer to communte home on weekends. i live 3.5 hours away..which ya know is okay but it's 185 miles and that really wears on your car.....i just don't know what to do...i'm trying..i think there might be a way out of the lease..i read something on their website..so just maybe...

It will only cost you $50 to change and you are wondering what to do? Change apartments!

You need to have a serious talk with people before you move in together and set rules up front. Turning in your roommates is a pretty crappy thing to do and you should not allow yourself to get in that position again. The reality is that most college kids drink, most stay up late and most have guys over... I'm not saying you are in the wrong (except about turning them in) but you have to deal with the reality here and that is that if you have the expectation that 20 something year olds aren't going to break rules and stay up late and make tons of noise then you need to make it clear up front before you agree to move in with them.

Sorry but college kids are more typically nuts than they are responsible and responsive to other people's opinions.

I realize that, but i had a talk with my roommates and they think my two things that i ask are unreasonable. The two things that i asked is that they keep the noise level down after midnight and that they drink and have parties elsewhere. But no whatever...they both hate me...so i'm getting out. I've given up on this damn apartment building. I'm either finding a way out of my lease agreement or i'm going to find someone to sublet to. I'm not going to live here...this place is the crapper this year!

It's good that you decided to start over with a new place, Dragon. You just didn't pick a place with people you would like. And clear that this situation wasn't going to work out. And it's not an unresonable conflict. You're two different kinds of people. You want quiet. And they want to party as hard as possible and the house is probably the best place where they can do that. Be sure to find out if your new roommates are heavy partiers this time, and if they are, whether or not they have to party in the house while you're there. There are heavy partiers who will party out of your way. I doubt you'll have much trouble finding another place. There's plenty of likable people.
