Does anyone know of anywhere online that has a poetry competition where the prize is scholarship money? I've written TONS of poems, and think some of them may have a good shot of doing well in a contest, but most contests I find are kind of sketchy and seem like they're most interested in getting your e-mail address to spam you. If anyone runs across anything that looks reputable, please let me know.

I don't know of any reputable sites to recommend, but I wanted to warn you against sending money for 'registration' as this is often a scam.

To get around the e-mail problem, why not create an address solely for this. That way your main inbox won't be cluttered up if you do start getting a lot of spam. There are many free e-mail providers such as Yahoo and gmail. I do know that Yahoo has a spam guard.

The most common scam is informing you that your poem won a prize, was chosen for publication and will be published in a book. You have to pay $500.00 for a certain amount of the books. Your poem is published with everyone else who paid the $500.00. Most are scams. I suggest calling the English department at your local college. They would be able to guide you to someone reputable.
