I'm three months pregnant, and today I had some bleeding and contractions. We went to the ER, and they said everything was fine, but I'm still really worried. Has anyone ever had a miscarriage, and if you can could you please tell me how it started? I would really appreciate any information anyone can share.

Occassionally some women experience bleeding during their pregnancy. You didn't mention that you'd talked to your own doctor and if you haven't, you should. He or she may tell you to get to bed and stay there, and then you should. You may be perfectly fine, but you also may need to take it easy for the rest if the pregnancy. Talk to your doctor and see what he or she suggests.

Actually, we ended up in the ER because of course this happens on a Saturday, and our base clinic isn't open on weekends or holidays. Plus I was having very painful contractions. They did every test imaginable, and after an internal sonogram (ouch!) they showed us the baby and said s/he appears okay.

However, they don't know why I'm having contractions or bleeding, plus the dizziness and nausea. They said that if I am going to miscarry, this early there is nothing they can do about it, and that I am just not to do anything too strenuous (he said paint the house or carry laundry from floor to floor).

I slept all afternoon Saturday, just about all day yesterday, and went to bed at 8:30 pm last night. Its about 4:30 am (my son and I both went to sleep early) and other than being extremely hungry I feel fine! First day in three days I haven't been in pain or dizzy. So perhaps we are lucky and whatever was going on has passed.

Thanks.

Hope you don't find this too gross, but I had a miscarriage once. Don't even remember how far along I was. It started with bleeding. No nausea or dizzyness or anything like that. The bleeding increased until 3 towels had been saturated, with a bloody clot in the middle. Once the clot was passed the bleeding stopped and everything was fine. I suspect you just had a little bleeding and a bug of some kind. If you lose too much though, it can make you dizzy and light headed.

Well, the spotting and pain have started back up. I spotted this morning, and have been having what feels like contractions intermittently for about 4 hours now. I called the nurse line for our health insurance - "I don't know" she says. I call the number to have a doctor call you back - no call. I HATE THESE PEOPLE!!
