I am pregnant and I am getting constant tension headaches.
I know they say to take tylenol does that mean the extra strength kind? If not I am in trouble because that is what I have been taking.
If anyone had to take them and please let me know
if your baby was alright I am 11 weeks pregnant.

Please do not take anything without asking your doctor first. There is a chance that the headaches could simply be stress headaches do to any concerns you may have about having the baby or just from body changes and your doctor could recommend some yoga type exercises to help relive the pain.

Tylenol is OK while you are pregnant. But I would try to take just the regular strength. DO NOT take more than what it says on the bottle. If it says take every 4 hours don't take more often you could harm the baby and your self. If the Tylenol is not working please CALL your DOCTOR and and let them know about your headaches they might be able to give you something else.

Yes, definitely check with your doctor before you take anything, just to make sure.
Sherry, a lot of the questions you are posting here are ones you really should be asking your doctor. Even though some of the people on this site are very knowledgeable, you shouldn't be trusting the health and life of your baby to complete strangers. Talk with your doctor.

By the way, though, sex is a great headache cure.

My gynecologist was a conservative sort. He said for me not to take anything at all during the first trimester of pregnancy. He said any drug that you put in your body has a systematic effect. The baby is now developing all the essentials right now. If there is some problem with development that can cause a birth defect, it about always happens in the first trimester. After that it is safer to take something. No matter how minor it seems, ask first before taking absolutely anything at all. Chances are you will do fine taking Tylenol. Not all doctors are in agreement about this subject.

To Debra Tylenol has been taken by pregnant women for years and NO harm has been reported. My doctors group allowed me to take and my 3 cousins doctors which were all diferent doctors said it is safe. But you can't overdose on it. YOU MUSt follow the directions on the bottle and check with your doctor like I said above it is not working an let him know what you are taking.

Debra, here is a website that specifically discusses pain and methods of pain reduction including types of analgesia (pain medication) during pregnancy. It is smart to always ask you doctor first, but Tylenol/acetaminiphen has been proven to be safe during pregnancy. roll eyes

Hi
My midwife recommended I use feverfew tincture to relieve headaches while I was pregnant, and to use saline nose drops to relieve nasal congestion, both of which worked very well for me, all research I have done and the literature I recieved from my midwives say that feverfew is a safe remedy for the headahes while pregnant.
