Ok now I am really staring to get annoyed with my left arm and hand falling asleep all the time mostly at night. thursday night I went to sleep at 11 then got up at 12 and it takes at least 20 min to wake up then I layed back down for 10 min and it fell asleep again all night long that was the pattern. I kept my arm down too. In a percentage how many pregnant women experience this and when does it go away? It started the beginning of this month when I started taking extra iron pills that the Dr. prescribed could that be the problem? Also it is so wierd ever since I was three months pregnant it is not my back, my tail bone is sore all the time is that a pregnancy thing? That is not that annoying, I am just worried about the arm thing. Please tell me it goes away before I have the baby if not I will have it till Dec 22. Could you share your experiences if you have had either. Does the arm thing happen more in overweight ladies that are pregnant? Thanks

I'm not doctor but it sure sounds like you may have a pinched nerve - perhaps at the lower Coccyx area. . . perhaps as a result to the additional weight of the baby and the shifting of that weight against your spine?
Many different structures in the spine are capable of producing back pain, including:
The large nerve roots that go to the legs and arms may be irritated. The smaller nerves that innervate the spine may be irritated. The large paired back muscles (erector spinae) may be strained. The bones, ligaments or joints themselves may be injured. The disc space itself can be a source of pain.
Your pregnacy has probably created any of the above scenarios. I'd mention this to your doctor at your next visit. There might be some alignment that can be done or maybe even some type of brace you can wear. Again, no expert here - just using some common sense. Let me know what you find out!

When I was pregnant for my son, I had a lot of circulation issues like hands falling asleep at night and stuff. Now in this pregnancy, when I lay down my right thigh falls asleep. Just my right thigh. I know, weird. But I find laying on my left side helps it - they recommend sleeping on your left side anyway because it helps your circulation. So you may want to try that, and make sure you aren't sleeping with your hands up on your belly. Having them elevated like that will make them fall asleep.
As for the tailbone pain, I had a similar problem in my first pregnancy, to the point where at times I had trouble standing up from a sitting position. It was as mentioned above a pinched nerve. It got bad enough that I had to go to water therapy three days a week to take the weight of the baby off my spine. So you definately want to mention it to your doctor, and hopefully they can do something for you. Good luck!
