Ok Y'all, Im sure you get these questions all of the time, but I am not too sure what to think. I am always on time with my period, never a day late. But I am now like 4 days late, but have slight cramping, I have been vomiting for about a month now with dry heaves, all the same signs I had with my last pregnancy. (I miscarried). Anyhoo, I took like 3 pregnancy tests, the first 2 were like 3 weeks ago, and the 3rd was a few days ago, all came out negative. The sad part of it all is,I live with my bf but we cant remember when we last had UNPROTECTED sex. We are really good with condoms, but lately havent even been having sex because of my new job which really exhausts me, so I really dont know WHEN I could have got pregnant (if I am). Does anyone know how reliable HPT's are and if I have so many neg's does it mean I am not pregnant, or could there still be a chance? HELP! Thanks. BOO BOO

I notice that you said you are 4 days late, but you started taking pregnancy tests 3 weeks ago. I don’t know of any urine pregnancy tests that are reliable BEFORE your period is late. After that time, HPT’s vary in their reliability.
Condoms reduce the risk of pregnancy, but are not 100% reliable, so that doesn’t rule out the possibility of pregnancy.
If you want to try another test, you might consider going to a CareNet Pregnancy Center. They offer FREE pregnancy tests and CONFIDENTIAL counseling. You can locate the center nearest you by calling 1-800-395-HELP or at this site: CareNet. The tests they use are quite accurate, even one or two days after your period should have started.
You have some symptoms that COULD indicate pregnancy (as you know from experience). Of course, if you are pregnant, you should find a doctor for prenatal care. If not, and your symptoms don’t go away soon, you should consider seeing a doctor to determine the cause.
Hope this is helpful, Teresa

Pregnancy tests are very reliable if you do when the directions say to do it. You have to be late for your period. You can do a test on the first day of a missed period. Why would you be doing a test 3 weeks ago. Have you not had a period since then? I'm confused! You say your late now. If you took the ones 3 weeks ago they would be not accurate if you had just had your period. You could be just stressed. Stress will effect your period and make it late. Worrying about being pregnant will give you stress. My suggestion would be to wait a few days, and try to think back are you really late. Did you know when your last period was? If they answer is yes I would get another test if your period doesn't come let say by Sunday and take it. If it is negetative I would wait a few more days and then call my doctor or go to clinic and have a pregnancy test done. The other thing I don't understand if you have been vomiting for over a month now usually that starts about the time you find out your pregnant not weeks before most people would be ovulating to get pregnant. So it makes me wonder was your last period light or different in any way? Could you be pregnant from a previous month? Usually pregnancy tests are accurate but on a rare occasion they are not. I think I would do a test again or if you don't want to mess with that I would go and have a blood test done to find out for sure. Planned Parenthood is very good if you do not have a doctor to go to. Good luck! a nurse
Here is a link to find a Planned Parenthood office in your area. I would do another test today or tomorrow, but it could be just stress from your new job...you say you've been exhausted and that can really screw up your cycle. Try to catch up on some rest, okay? Good luck.

If you think that you might be pregnant (even though you can't think of when it might have happened) you should go see your doctor. Only your doctor (or a Planned Parenthood clinic) can tell you for sure if you are pregnant or not. Home pregnancy tests can be very reliable, but you can never be sure that you've used them right, or that they're right at all. You should go to your doctor immediately. Besides, condoms are not 100% reliable. They're close, but you can still get pregnant having protected sex. And if you are NOT pregnant, you shoud go see your doctor anyway to figure out what is going on.
