Ok I read all the articles and now I really scared and they are saying that the baby could die or be mentally retarded even if I get the antibotics during labor and my Dr. hasn't offered me any antibotics to take now to get rid of it.
I want to know how I got this. Does it go away after labor and if my baby is going to be alright
if they give me antibotics during labor
If anybody has had this and a baby. Could you tell me your experience because now I am worried for my baby.

You know, I suggest you print out all the documentation you have, write a list of questions and go to the doctor with it. We can only provide information to you, but we do not see you, assess you or know anything about your situation. Your doctor should be able to put to rest any fears you have, but YOU NEED to be PRO-active toward your care and your concerns.

I'm going back about 2 years here, so take what I say and read further with your own info and ask your doc, ok? I tested + for BS also during my pregnancy. My OBGYN said this was a normal thing we carry in our system and sometimes it's overabundant, sometimes it's not. I got antibiotics by IV (needed to take the positive results sheet with me) and both Kimi and I are fine. I wouldn't panic- these types of things are more common than not. Just talk to your doctor - this man or woman is helping you bring your baby into the world and owes you the answers you are looking for. Good luck!

I also tested + for BS during my last pregnancy. My daughter is 2 now, and she's been perfectly healthy since birth. My water broke and I wasn't having contractions, so my OB was insistent on inducing because of the BS and the lack of a sterile environment for the baby once the water broke. I had 4 doses of penicillin by IV during labor, even though I didn't get to the hospital until a couple of hours after my water broke. The pediatrician at the hospital said that if the mother gets the penicillin, he doesn't consider the baby to be at any more risk than if the mother wasn't BS+.
