I have severe food aversions. All I really eat these days are red meat, cheese, cereal, pasta, protein shakes and sweets. Am I getting the vitamins my baby needs as long as I take my prenatal vitamin? I also eat lots of power bars and other fortified snack foods, and drink vitamin water and juices.

Also, I gained 10 poundsmy first trimester. Is this normal for a small framed person? I was 113 pounds when I started, and while trying to become pregnant I saw my doc and said to put on some weight. Little did I know I was actually already pregnant. So in the beginning I was hungry all the time. It's starting to taper off now. I wonder if my body had kicked into high gear to put some bulk on me? Or did I just overeat?

You did not gain too much weight.

And what kind of food aversions are we talking about? You do need to be eating fruits and vegetables as well.. very important nutrients in them..

Can you give us more information?

Aversions to chicken, pork and almost every green vegetable but lettuce. These are things I ate all the time when I wasn't preggers. I eat a lot of fruit. Could you tell me which fruits have which nutrient that I should be taking in? Are my prenatal vitamins not enough?

Thanks, Sherasi. The second link was great. I think I was making this nutrition stuff more complicated than necessary.

I liked that one very much too. Glad to have helped! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

the rule of thumb with nutrition, is "Eat a Rainbow of Colors". Good nutrition includes as much color and variation as possible.

Also, something I learned today (I try to never stop learning), Organic Foods are the best choices because there are SIGNIFICANT levels of TOXINS that can affect your fetus (and everyone else for that matter).

Some foods are worse than others in absorbing these chemicals that you then consume. The best bet is to eat as much Organic as possible.

The cost is more, but think about the fact that Farmers are some of the hardest workers in the world and this money allows them to continue to provide us food. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
