As some of you may be aware, I am going into my second trimester of pregnancy.

For the last week, I have been having severe nausea, some vomitting and diarhea. I have also lost about 5 pounds (which is BAD since I had a Gastric Bypass and NEED to keep stable nutritionally). I am by no means in danger of the weight loss yet, but it IS an issue with nutrition and hydration.

I haven't been able to drink well, etc.

I am trying a few things like:

#1 Emetrol
#2 Ginger/lemongrass tea
#3 Ice shavings/filtered water
#4 Gatorade (Ice Watermellon)

I just started these tonight, but does anyone have any other suggestions? I am really concerned.

For dinner this evening I ate the broth of Zuppa Toscana.. a soup made of potato, sausage and fresh greens (such as spinach or Kale). It was quite tasty.

But I threw it up later... about an hour later.

I also had diarhea about 3 times.

I am another pound down. I am planning on talking to my doctor in the am clinic tomorrow if I find that I have lost more weight. Meanwhile, I am continuing to try to drink... I am fixing Chamomile tea as I am typing here. I plan to add honey to it for the calories and glucose.

I ended up going to the hositpal for IV fluids. I do now have a perscription for Phenergan but I am trying to be sparing on how frequently I take it.

I am about 8 pounds down now, but I have been holding steady at about that weight.

Most of the time I am keeping things down, but occassionally it is difficult.

Sher, I'm sorry to hear that you are still having problems. Doesn't this usually go away in time or is your situation out of the norm?

I am given to understand that it is totally individual .. that each woman will have the physical symptoms (or not) in various degrees, at different times of the pregnancy or even during the entire pregnancy. Roll Eyes

I am not debilitated by any means, but there is always that risk which is why I am trying to head it off at the pass. Frown

Since I now know it is a girl, I know why this is such a different pregnancy from my previous two! Big GrinBig Grin

Several of my friends have experienced extreme problems up until mid way through the second trimester.

Everyone is different as to what will work. My friend that normally eats super healthy found that McDonalds French fries were the only thing that would stay down.

Eat the most hearty thing you can stomach and consider using health shakes or protein shakes. Try drinking gatorade.

Hope you feel better soon.
