Well...first of all I am not a nurse BUT I have had a similiar procedure done and the premise of no sex for six weeks is primarily due to the possibility of undoing the INTERNAL stitches as well as the external stitches (or staples). Even a good ol' "O" causes internal muscle contractions (as I'm sure you are aware). Do you really want to chance something coming undone? I advice you trying to hold on until the doctor gives you the "all clear". And think about all of us poor souls who are unmarried and with no prospects - like myself! 6 weeks is nothing - trust me! LOL

Georgia is right, better listen to physicians' instructions. The best thing to do is discuss it with your Doctor and get down to details to find out what is safe and what isn't.

No post-surgical instructions should be ignored, C-sections more than most because of the types of risks involved.

Why not spend that time focusing on bonding with your new little tyke? I guarantee you won't regret it. Smile

Congrats! I would do what the doctor says also like they mention above. You don't want to rip sutures and then have complications and then it may even be longer before you can have intercourse. Focus on the baby right now and rest you will need it!
