Before anybody says ask you doctor
she gave me a vague list of medicines I can take
like it says chlortrimeton and sudafed
and actifed but we all know how many different kinds of each there are.
Well I picked out actifed cold and sinus and then I asked the pharmacist if it was alright she said
absolutely not.
This morning I woke up with a bad headache, runny nose and congestion.
If anybody knows anything to take please let me know.

that sudafed was about the only thing I could take. It will help with the congestion and tylenol is relativly safe for use during pregnancy for headaches. Take the regular strength and only use as directed by your doctor. I was never told that I could take actifed. Drink more fluids too, to help "flush" out the cirus in your system. Hard to believe but sunshine can help to, the heat might make you feel worse but there is some healing value in it, maybe because it makes you sweat and therefor helps to get out the virus, but remember to not stay out so long as to get burned, maybe small intervals of about 20 minutes at a time, plus you don't want to get overheated. Sit out with a big glass of water.

One more thing, once while pregnant I was on a drug to prevent contractions that gave me a severe migraine and the only way I found to get rid of it was to sit in a very cool bath, the cold water makes your heart pump more blood through your body to warm it up and the blood vessels in your brain then expand instead of contract (which gives you a headache). So try it if the tylenol doesn't help. Being pregnant is miserable enough without having added illness, I do hope you get better soon.

As with regular colds, when you have congestion, stay away from dairy, especially milk, it will help produce more mucus. Best of luck.

Well, if you don't trust your doctors' advice, ask the pharmacist who said not to take that medication.
I would only recommend something very mild, or nothing at all if you can stand it. A hot bath or shower might help decongest you, there are teas and broths which can clear you out, ginger ale will break up a cough. It's best not to take any medication while you are pregnant, if you can help it, but maybe an herbalist could help you out.

My suggestion would be to take that list to the drug store and start looking on the back of the boxes and find one that has what your doctor says you can take. You can take just plain Tylenol and the psuedophed. The psuedophed will help open up your sinus and promote drainage. If you find a product that you think is OK take your list and the product to the pharmacist and ask them if this product has only the drugs that are listed on your list and NO more. You might have gotten hold of a person last time that just didn't want to help. Sometimes if they are busy this happens. Hope you feel better.
