Hi. We have a ball python, and she ate a few days ago, but now she's super bloated around where her food is in her body. I can't find anything on it. What should I do?

A cool, sluggish snake is going to take much longer to digest its food than a snake that is kept at the proper temperature and gets some activity. Also the size of the meal relative to the size of the snake will make a big difference, and ball pythons can take anything from a few hours to a few days to digest it.

If your snake is still very bloated after a few days, you really need to consult your vet. There may not be a problem, but if there is you want to get treatment before it’s too late.

This website has some good information on keeping ball pythons.

And this website describes some interesting research that shows pythons use hydraulics to pump up their guts when eating!.
