I created AnswerPool.com, on or about March 28th 2002, upon hearing that AnswerPoint was being closed by it's owner, Ask Jeeves.

Other members were saddened but I saw the chance to create a new even better website.

AnswerPool.com was originally about 250 members of Ask Jeeves who came together to keep an idea alive and in fact breathe new life into it. While the forums were popping up on the site and questions were being placed, I was busy setting up the temporary administration.

I was only at Ask Jeeves about two months myself so when it came to knowing people at AnswerPoint, I had only a passing knowledge of a few high profile members of the AnswerPoint community.

I chose Dwight (D-wight on AnswerPoint) and Karrow as my first site helpers. I really didn't know anyone but I had talked to Dwight prior to the closing of AnswerPoint and had respected the great answers from Karrow in the pets forums.

It was a question about MIME types in emails that originally brought me to the Ask Jeeves website and luck that put me there before AnswerPoint was closed.

I am a self taught webmaster and have been paying for the site with my own pocket money as well as the donations of a few generous souls here at AnswerPool.com.

The site is intended to be enjoyable by any person over the age of 13, and with family values always kept in mind. We want to allow expression but maintain a clean site.

We are able to do that with our extensive team of volunteer moderators. They do an excellent job of removing the junk posts from the site and are a testament to the quality of AnswerPool.com.

The members themselves are the 'asset' here. Our pool of knowledge knows no bounds and it is growing each minute.

It is our hope that AnswerPool.com becomes a permanent fixture on the Internet for decades to come.
