Interesting essay....as for "Does it help?" Well, I'd have to bet that depends on what you're trying to fix....For the student who needs a great deal of structure to thrive, an Academy setting will probably serve them well, likewise the kid who is cutting up simply out of boredom because the conventional school structure is not challenging enough. The kid who is causing trouble as an attention seeking device will be miserable there because they'll feel tossed aside, the exact thing that caused problems to begin with There are many other aspects that I don't feel well enough informed to comment on but for any parent considering this option I'd urge a psychological evaluation of the child and serious research into the school before making a decision.... The same school that is the salvation of one kid could destroy another... and some "Military" schools are merely privately funded kiddie prisons.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mrs S. I have had no experience with military schools, but plenty with disciplinary schools. They tend to become abusive kiddie jails. Beware.
