A lot depends on what the surname is and whether a name they like sounds OK with it. You also have to be careful what the initials spell out - for instance, with a surname of Knight, you wouldn't give the child the forenames David Orlando Robert! This site has a long list of boys names. Perhaps your brother and his girlfriend could find one they both like there.

Marion ? (Hollywood people were such wimps: what was wrong with Marion Morrison as a screen name?) Hillary? (We have a manly cabinet minister, Hillary Benn,in Britain and haven't you got a tough macho candidate called something similar ?) Evelyn? (As in Waugh) Sue ? (As in 'Boy named...' ) Any of the above should guarantee the kid growing up as a fighter And there's always Fred...

Fred? That's the name of my dog, and I have never seen such a pathetic excuse for an animal in my life. But hey, you could do worse than look to the animal world for manly names for the child. How about: Max Rocky Duke Harley or even Winston ?

Fred darling, I too thought YOU were Fred. You see I thought the characteristics of the Hungarian Puli matched your own, and so I sort of assumed that was why you had chosen the name, Can you ever forgive me for this terrible misunderstanding? The Puli: "He is extremely active, intelligent, and manipulative. He is happy and playful to an advanced age. He is a square and compact with a very short loin, but he may appear longer as a teenager....The ideal Puli is supremely self-confident and self-possessed. He may choose to be either out-going or discriminating in his relationships, but he will always guard his own from any intrusion. He is a loud and expressive, but does not usually bark inappropriately. He is very serious about his responsibilities, which means that he will tend to stay with his premises to make sure things are properly managed."btw I read your public profile..it took me a couple of hours

Hey, that's a terrible picture. Is Fred a lurker? He'd surely be hard to find in the dark. But it's Fred's ears that intrigue me: "Set slightly below level of skull, V-shaped, pendant, of medium size, covered with long hair. Length of ears about half length of head. Ears do not appear noticeable, even when alert." But how would we know? We've never seen him alert.
