Hi,
I have a grade 9 exam tomorrow and I am totally stuck on some of the review questions! Frown
One question is:
Graph A(-1,-4) to B(2,2)
Find the y-intercept on the line.
How do you do that? I graphed the co-ordinates and made the line and found the slope, but how do you find the y-intercept?
Second Question:
Make up an equation of a line that is:
parallel to y=-3x+4 How would you draw it parallel?
Fourth question:
y=-6 What is the slope and y-intercept for that? Confused
Last Question:
How would you graph 4x-2y=8 and y=-3x+1 on the same grid?
Sorry for all the questions, but if anyone has any advice on how to do these PLEASE PLEASE answer me before tomorrow! Thank you soo much!

I'll answer them a litte out of order.
Remember that the basic equation for a straight line is Y=mx + b. m=slope, b = the intercept.

You sound like you're just getting a little confused when the equations don't look quite the same..
Y=-6 is the same as Y=0x+(-6)
It's a flat line with zero slope.. you can determine the intercept as the constant term.

make up a new equation that is parallel to y=-3x+4... Parallel lines never meet so the slopes are equal... you just need to change the constant to get a parallel line. Graph your new equation to prove it to yourself.

Plotting the two equations...on the same graph.
you know how to do the y=-3x+1 (parallel to another line?) The 2nd equation can be rearranged.. 4x-2y=8 is the same as -2y=-4x+8
is the same as -y=-2x+4 is the same as y=2x-4

your first question is the hardest but not impossible. You've figured the slope using the rise over the run? (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1).

you can then use either point in the y=m(x)+b
We know when X=2,your equation will make y=2
y=mx+b 2=(your slope)*2+b . rearrange
2-(your slope)*2= b the intercept of the y axis when x=0

practice practice practice..it'll come
good luck.. better yet good skill
