I read the post below about mounting a flag holder on vinyl siding and I am having the exact same issue except it is with mounting a rack to hold my garden hose. should i take the same advice or would it be different?

thanks for the help. i am brand new to this forum and appreciate anyone's help.

I'd repeat my advice to use hanger bolts, and DvDgStwrt's better explanation. I'm sure that the other gadget, if you can find it, would probably work, although it would also probably be more expensive. The important consideration is not to damage the siding. BTW, welcome to AnswerPool.

do not go though the siding as it voids all warrentys. instead plant a post be it metal or wood (preferably metal as the termites wont eat it)then mount to the post. Smile
