Hello all,

I am a student at the university of pennsylvania and I
have to write a paper for a class, but I can't find
the information I need.

The paper is about tool rentals, and people's habits
surrounding tool rentals.

Below is a link to a survey, it's only a few
questions, and will take under a minute. If you could help me
out by filling it in I would appreciate it.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...m3mBOZQg_3d_3d

Thanks,
Steve Finn

Please post an outline of your paper when it's done. I would be interested in it.

It may be worth noting that for a lot of folks "availability" may be nearly synonomous with "location"- if I need a Ditch Witch today, it does me no good to know that one is available at a rental outfit in a location that will take half a day to get to and from.

Just curious. Will your thesis supervisor not ask questions about how to validate the responses? We members of A/P may have lied about our ages, or our sex, or even where we live. It's even possible that some of us may have dual identities: As you know, validation is a major factor in evaluating research studies.

Your supervisor in this case would stand in for "the client" in the guidelines cited below:

"A minimal amount of Respondent-identifiable information will be disclosed to the Client to permit the Client: (1) to validate interviews and/or (2) to determine an additional fact of analytical importance to the study (including the practice of appending Client-owned database information to the Survey Research Organization’s data file as an analytic aid). Where additional inquiry is indicated, Respondents must be given a sound reason for the re-inquiry; a refusal by Respondent to continue must be respected." (C.A.S.R.O.)

this is by no means a final survey, i was just trying to understand these topics in a general sense to determine a direction to go in with the project and feel people out. i have a hard time many people would click on a survey link with the intentions of skewing the data, though you do bring up some good points that i will address in the future, and on any additional surveys. thanks for the input!

Hi, Steve, I rent construction equipment on a regular basis. The survey did not mention "service" of the establishment, but this factor outweighs any other in my decisions. Once a good service relationship is found, price can be negotiated to satisfy cost requirements.
