I have a software program called Broderbund 3-D Home Plan Designer that I ordered from

Broderbund.com

and it has dozens of plans already in it, but you can design your own floorplans. It's all drag and drop. I saw it at a discount store too, so I think you can get it anywhere, just about. I want to get the Landscape 3-D program that goes with it, you can move the landscape files to the home program and you get "fly around" 3-D views of the inside and outside. It also has hundreds of decorating options. I just wish I could build all the great dream homes I've designed with it!

does it have to be big enough for the truck? You may need to make some scale adjustments!

Of course, you could turn it into a nice 600 square-foot computer room.

Hey 'fuse, I suggested we might want to add a 17 foot high bay for the tractor, but hubby said that wouldn't be necessary, as long as it can accommodate his Dodge Ram Pickup and my car, along with room for tools, workbench, mower, etc...

Good of you to think of that though, I did too!

I have the Broderbund 3D Home Architect and love it. It's a couple of years old, but I can highly recommend it!

I did a search under "garage plans" and the hits were pretty high, however going to a few sites I came to see that their is a lot of variety to consider.

The reality is you can decide on a style (Gothic, Modern, carriage house circa 1890's, arts and craft (F.L. Wright), decide on your basic needs (1 to 3 cars +/- storage, +/- workshop, perhaps swimming pool pump and filter? whatever else) and go to an architect who will either rummage through past designs and pull one out for you, or in case your needs are highly specialized, design a new garage from scratch.

http://www.abetterbackyard.com/garages.html gives you some idea of the styles of garage out there. It also links to other sites.

Up side is that there are plenty of styles to choose from, down side is that there is not a national standard building code, thus any plan you choose might run a risk of needing redesign by a structural engineer or an architect to meet local codes in your area .

Like Johnhad stated, "84 Lumber".

Most lumber companies have "Free" plans if you get the lumber and materials from them. Most have the "Package Garage" for sale.

Just besure what ever you do, check with you building codes & zoneing department.

A friend of mine built a garage and the city made him take it down. It was 2 feet off where it was allowed to be. They get pretty picky after the fact. there was a little more to it but that will give you the idea.
