General Contractor is the title you are looking for. In short as a general contractor you would have sub contractors (plumbers, carpenters, electricians, roofers, etc) who would work for you. You would also have to have an architect (somebody who draws up the blue prints) and you would of course need to know local building codes and know enough of all of those jobs to know when you are not being handed a raw deal. Most general contractors start off in a specialized feild (carpentry, plumbing, etc) and then get more involved with the other aspects of construction. A G.C. has a lot on his/her plate: http://www.the-homestore.com/handouts/whycontractor.htmlTo find out more.
