In what condition do you think that you will be post mortem, you know, your mentals, emotionals, physicals, spirituals, other?

(Truly, I do not know why I am asking this gruesome question but would like to find out.)

In a coffin, six feet under. Post mortem is exactly as it says.

Here's my plan.

I expect it will be very similar to what I experienced prenatal! But I expect to find out for myself soon enough. Roll Eyes

I plan to get cremated so all that will be left will be memories, some dust and hopefully positive accomplishments.

I would love to come back and gently haunt some people, but that seems to be a lot of effort when I might rather just be dead.

Another option is LifeGem®:

quote:
The LifeGem® is a certified, high-quality diamond created from the carbon of your loved one as a memorial to their unique life.

Do the whole family and make a nice bracelet. Big Grin

Sheesh! I never expected these replies.

I've heard of Life Gem before. I find it rather macabre.. sort of like the vials of each others blood that Anglina and Husband #2 Billie Bob Thornton used to wear around their necks.

As for the my after-life... I do know that cremation is how I want my remains disposed of. As for any spirit or life-force dwelling my body.. I have no idea and can't really even begin to speculate.

I only HOPE it isn't that rather boring Christian "Ideal" of angel wings, harps and eternal bliss.

It all sounds very boring to me. Of course, if I could have an endless supply of interesting books to read, art to create, and excellent food to eat that won't make me unhealthy, that would be a nice after;ife. Smile

When my time comes, in that distant future, I will be enshrined at AnswerPool Memorial Gardens, along side KK, Karrow, and Sailracer, all of whom, being so much older than I, had long since gone to the Big Chatroom in the Sky.

Having outlived all the original members of AnswerPool, I want no formal recognition of my demise. I have left instructions to discourage official visitation by heads of state, and, in lieu of flowers, have requested that donations be made to PayPal in order that the monthly server fees for AnswerPool be paid.

What did you expect, Tsaeb?

Sherasi, I totally agree. I cannot even stand to think of an eternity in white robes playing the harp. Although the flying part could be neat...

That diamond thing is a good idea. That way they can never forget how beautiful I was.

Or I was also thinking how they should cremate me and have my ashes in an ern (sp?) and so every time they turn around, there I am! Big Grin

Mentals, non-existant as I won't have a brain - thus no mind. Emotionals, non-existant as I will have no senses to feel anything. Physicals, post mortem involves rigor mortis, bloating, decay, and finally totally decomposition. Spirituals...well I think when I die I won't know any other existence other than a long sleep until I am "awakened" when the trumpet blows and I face my maker and wait to hear my name read from the "Book of Life"

On an aside, I heard about Life Gems from an episode of "Family Plots" and looked into them. Thought it would be an option for when my cat dies. But just under a carat (which is as large as they make them) was $20,000! Plus you have to still pay for the cremation on top of that!

You can use a lock of hair, Georgia, according to the site.

I did not see that DG. All I saw was that they needed cremated remains and that a tablespoon was enough to make a small diamond. However, the Life Gem site was not working when I tried to access it so I had to go to other sites that also sold the Life Gem. Could you send me a link please?...Nevermind, site is working and I found it. Thanks

I hoped for something along the line of acknowledging that there is no death to the child of God.

Well, I guess that YOU will have to express that opinion.. because it seems not many others are... in THIS thread anyway. Smile

In that case, I'm really surprised that you are surprised. Shouldn't you have seen this coming?

You . . . Post Mortem
Tsaeb, I believe there is no "death" to a child of God but you did ask "physically" and yes, physically there is death...to all beings...children of God or not. But my response under spiritually should have been more in the lines of what you were hoping for. Smile

Georgia85: I think that when the morbid subject of death is mentioned, one does tend to jump to its physical aspects. Interestingly, though, I recall that at my mother's wake, folks were telling jokes and having a laugh-fest. In short, I think that this morbid topic has gotten a lot of views for the variety of ways in which it can be approached.

Some people don't consider the subject of death "morbid," but rather a natural end to life. And some people don't believe anything happens after death other than decay, so there is nothing but the physical to discuss.

That's true. But it's interesting to note the number of euphemisms in English which allow us to avoid the verb "to die."
