So what's the style this summer for girls' Shorts: short, short-short, modest, or unattractive knee length? Please never ever bring back the Jennifer Grey/Dirty Dancing cuffed blue jean shorts.

It appears to be a mid thigh length tending more toward the knees.

What was wrong with the jeans Jennifer Grey wore?

Long shorts are so unattractive. We men, at least myself, like to see all the leg we can. (I'm so shallow)

Right, but are you talking about women, or girls? The short shorts I see regularly are FAR to short, I think. And I'm a liberal. There is sexy, and then there is trashy, and sometimes there may be only an inch of difference in between...

Let me be the judge of that. Please.

Roll Eyes @ DG.
Elexina is right, there's sexy and there's trashy. Save trashy for the bedroom, if that's your thing.

Think, of it this way, Kendor, if you had a daughter, how would you want her to dress?

Like a girl, not a basketball player.

I think I have every bit as much right to judge it as you do.
And if I had a daughter, I certainly would want her to dress like a girl if she wanted to, or like a boy if she were more comfortable. But dressing like a girl and dressing like a slut are two different things.
Technically, girls should be able to walk around naked without fear of being judged or molested, but the world simply isn't that way. We are judged by our outward appearance, and no one takes a girl in Daisy Dukes seriously. At least not in my experience.

I had hoped my post would be seen as humor. Sorry if I offended anyone.

DG....if you saw what I saw today...trust me...you's say "too short"..the wearer in question had to be WAY over 50....the shorts were so short the resembled undie wear.

There is nothing wrong with "way over 50" unless that is a circumference. (insert :groucho here)

Dorian, I wasn't offended either. My response was more to Kendor than to you. I should have used better spacing.

I think there are clothes that can make a woman look sexy, and others that are just totally inappropriate to wear in public. I'm not a prude. I'm probably one of the most open minded people you could meet, but I think the way some women of all ages dress, makes them look like cheap hookers.
I had to take one of my children for an x-ray at the local hospital. The technician there was wearing hospital scrubs, and the pants were so low on her hips, that not only could you see the waistband of the thong she was wearing, but most of the thong itself. Apparently, that's an acceptable way to dress in the workplace.

Kitty, I agree with your comment. There's nothing sadder, and more pathetic than an older woman dressing in the skimpy clothing the teens are wearing.

At my youngest daughter's school there's a strict dress code. Girls' shorts have to be of an approved length, no spaghetti strap tops, and no bare midriffs showing. Since we don't have school uniforms here, these rules are the next best thing.

So, in effect dg, you're approving of the scant, 'skimpy' clothing teen girls are wearing these days?
