Here in Phoenix it is crazy with all the hype and preparation and anticipation for our 2nd Super Bowl. I am several miles (around 9+) from the stadium and am enjoying this immensely.

• A pair of hot air balloons with the Super Bowl logo and the respective team's logos flew over and looked awesome.

• 10 minutes ago every pigeon in the neighborhood was flying panic circles as the Goodyear blimp went over the house.

• The "NFL Experience" takes up so much of the parking lot that they have parking in dirt lots... and we had a decent rain a couple days back, so some people could be parking in some nasty mud if the forecasted possiblity of rain happens.

• The sports station I listen to (one of several here) is going to have a ticket drawing, and is qualifying people over the phone. I dialed the first three numbers and already got an "All circuits are busy" message ! I have tried many times, but not gotten past the 5th digit dialed a single time.

• Celebs are crawling over every region of town and the nicer bars are turning away tons of people. If you ain't a celeb or driving a Porsche and dressed in Armani, you better make back-up plans LOL.

Anyhow... that is just a little of what it is like here. I am looking forward to the game.

Will you be watching Super Bowl XLII this Sunday ?

I certainly shall ! Hoping for a good game and an upset.

This is the only 'American football' game that anyone ever watches over here, but it's quite an event in its own right. People have parties for it. It's ideal for us Britons. The game stops every few minutes to allow us to get more drinks. And there's a big interval with entertainments and nipples and things, to give time to get the plates filled. You Americans really think of everything ! (You can't do that with our Cup Final: just a break of 15 or 20 minutes at half-time, otherwise it's 90 minutes of constant action)

Most of the Hype is because a New York Team is playing an undefeated season team; This type of hype goes on in New York every year for all sports. Hopefully the hype will turn into reality for the Giants.

Go Big Blue!!!

It certainly reminds me of a year ago because both team then were close to home.

This year is certainly one of historical significance. With a team having the perfect season on the line, an event we havn't seen in 37 years. I'd been saying previously the Patriots are going to get knocked off along the way. But they have made it to the big one once again.

While, in the regular season, the Giants are tough and have shown they can play a good game against the Patriots, I think New England will prevail. But I certainly anticipate a good close game.

I can't imagine the fun of having a Superbowl in your own town!

For most of the season, I have thought it would be incredible to witness a 19-0-0 season, and shut up the old Dolphins (whom I admired but who do not seem to want anyone to take it to a higher level). I have become captivated by the underdog Giants and must admit my heart is with an upset today. Plus I can't stand Belichick.

Go Big Blue!

It really is incredible, the hype AND the reality of being priveleged enough to host a Super Bowl. Our first chance was destroyed by our lack of an MLK holiday, our 2nd was a glorious Super Bowl that went off fairly well and afterwards was cause of the largest celebration I have seen in this valley outside of our World Series championship in 2001. And now, this Super Bowl... among the most competitive ever, and perfectly hosted in the NFL's most modern stadium in the nation's best weather !

BTW... the hype is even better in person obviously. I have only been to the one Super Bowl live, but it was so intense, from watching the crowds file in for hours to walking out with grown men just bawling like babies and others so ecstatic their feet did not seem to touch the ground.

Hopefully we will be able to host another Super Bowl within the next 6 years, and I am looking forward to it. This city is the perfect host city for it.

I had FOX on while I putzed around Sunday and occasionally watched some of the pre game programming.

I must say I thought of you Dawg whenever they showed the inside of the nearly empty stadium during the afternoon. Whenever they went back to an indoor shot you could see more, and more people inside.

It must have been awesome to be one of the first inside a stadium and watch it fill up like that.
